Coconut oil is great for your health and has been labeled by several companies as a superfood.  It does wonders for the body and keeps you healthy internally.  But did you know that coconut oil is also great for the skin? With the large amount of fatty acids that it has, it has a positive effect on how well it works for your skin.  Some are still very unfamiliar with how well coconut oil works for the skin. This is  because body lotion is still marketed heavily in stores as the go to product for skin care.  But, I am here to tell you that there are several uses of coconut oil for your skin and why it should be apart of your daily regimen.

Use Coconut Oil For Your Skin To Hydrate

This amazing oil heals dry, itchy skin.  It is one of the reasons we use it in our organic whipped shea butter blend and our follicle awakening hair oil.  Using organic coconut oil really helps to increase moisture within the skin.  Sometimes our scalps can get overly dry in the winter and coconut oil will help to soothe and condition.  Not to mention it will also remove bacteria that causes an unhealthy scalp.

Foot Bath

Who doesn’t love a good foot bath?  So soothing and necessary to keep the feet healthy.  You can add about 2 tablespoons of coconut oil to the foot soak, this should suffice.  It is also great if you have athletes feet that are always itchy and may be cracked too.  If you are a woman you know how embarassing rough dry cracked feet can be.  Having sandpaper feet will never be in style.  Coconut oil will soften up the dead skin on your feet making it easier to remove.

Great For Eczema And Psoriasis

Eczema and psoriasis can be very uncomfortable for those suffering from  it.  Eczema is a skin condition that leads to red swollen and itchy skin that usually form in hard, rough patches.  When coconut oil is applied to the skin at least twice daily you will start to see improvements.  This oil can work for eczema because it reduces bacteria, viruses and fungus that are found on the skin.

Natural Make Up Remover

With no harsh chemicals to be weary of, coconut oil can be used as a natural make up remover.  Coconut oil has a detergent like effect that is safe.  The great thing is when it is used to remove make up you dont really need any additional tools.  All you have to do is apply the coconut oil to your face in liquid form, rinse with warm water and pat it dry.  You’ll be left with a healthy looking “fresh face”.

Make A Lip Gloss Or Balm

During the colder months we know how much that affects how well our lips retain moisture.  Making a lip balm with beeswax, coconut oil, cocoa butter and shea butter will surely leave your lips soft and moisturized.  Coconut oil is an emollient which means that it seals moisture in the skin to avoid escaping causing dry chapped lips.

I hope that these ideas have given you some insight on the uses of coconut oil for the skin.  All can be very beneficial to you and leave you looking years younger.
